Wow!
Once in a while there is a love story that comes along and sweeps us off our feet, this is definately one of those stories. This is a film that will definately take your breath away. A bold, lavish, stylish, outstanding and absolutely beautiful romantic epic of the finest kind. It tops anything on the bar with the Titanic. It's spectacular, extroadinary, unforgettable and exhilerating. A deeply moving, stunning and breathtaking vision showing the beauty of the outback and brining it to glorious life. A blistering, thrilling and very exciting adventure. It's definately an astonishing work of superb art by Director, Baz luhrmann crafting his finest film yet. A masterpiece. A powerful and enthralling movie. Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman are absolutely magnificent, showing wonderful passion and compelling chemistry. Kidman is still great. Jackman is incrediable, giving a performance that strips him down to bare bones and shows undeniable star power. It's filled with amasing landscapes and dazzeling scenery.
An epic love story that will be the next Gone With the Wind.Rated: (PG-13)

THE MOVIE OUTLINE
"In northern Australia at the beginning of World War II, an English aristocrat inherits a cattle station the size of Maryland. When English cattle barons plot to take her land, she reluctantly joins forces with a rough-hewn stock-man to drive 2,000 head of cattle across hundreds of miles of the country's most unforgiving land, only to still face the bombing of Darwin, Australia, by the Japanese forces that had attacked Pearl Harbor only months earlier. "
I guess I underestimated this Baz Luhrmann's epic escapade a little too much. I checked on rottentomatoes.com and I guess the 52% is so unholy.
A magnificent motion picture that works on numerous levels.
Australia is definitely an exhilarating escapade, a rousing picture, and a flowing romance tale that leads to the resurrection of the western folks. It only took me to warm up my ass, sit nice, and enjoy the gorgeous scenery of Australia. It took 3 hours for what is worth.
What director Baz Luhrmann did superbly in the movie is he provide something with majestic fascination throughout the movie, especially both at the opening and closing scene.
Australia is a testimony that Baz Lurhman is one of the most honored director in our era and also a master at producing such gorgeous work of arts. The gripping Aboriginal culture and its connection with nature are nevertheless Luhrmann's fine idea. This is where the heart and soul of this movie lies, within the conventions and myths of Australia's indigenous people.
Both the two leading actor and actress are nice, but there's not much to talk about beside they succesfully made the viewers root for the character (thanks to the 3 hours duration). And that young boy Nullah brought terrific debut performance.
Australia was an utterly gripping and emotional tale about trust and survival. It's one of the most tear-jerking movie of the year. You know when mostly people say that Moulin Rouge! was Luhrman's finest work, I'm standing against the mainstream. Call me a lunatic but I honestly think Moulin Rouge was ridiculous since watching a musical never was my finest hour. I do like Romeo and Juliet though, but I prefer this latest Luhrmann's creation a lot better.
A CAPTIVATING FLASHBACK, PROVIDING :
- A moving melodrama
- Historical snapshots of conventional australian lives along with ups and downs that comes with it."Welcome to Australia!"
-The Cattle Driver-
I have read some of Flixsters' reviews of Australia. I think they are harsh. OK, so this is not Gone with the Wind. But it is similar. Epic movie, wide Australian scenery shots, 2000 cattle stampede, Darwin being hit by Japanese forces in World War II, typical story of good vs evil - a film that leaves many in the theatre crying.
On the flip side, this film has its hokiness - a kid stops the stampede by waving his hand at it, one of the main characters is killed, but no - it is a case of mistaken identity.
All in all, you should watch it - if just to see what all the hullabaloo is about.
What this guy put before the camera was breathtakin. I'm buyin everythin.
Western epico estilo australiano. Creo que menos metraje hubiera terminado en una pelicula aśn mejor. (7)
i saw Kidman and Jackman at opra's show

allso Nicole Kidman is so great in her movies
omg ima bout to go watch it! hugh jackman is sooo damn sexyyyy, and n. kidman is awsome
This is hands down one of the best movies of 2008. Each scene is a seamless transition into the next. Baz Luhrmann is a genious. The Cinematography is breathtaking. The scenery is beyond belief. The chemistry between Kidman and Jackman is the stuff of legendary romances. You feel each emotion they go through. This film is the reason movies are made. I can go on and on but i would like you to experience the joy that is AUSTRALIA. Do not miss this film as i fear the big screen captures it in a way no other medium can.
